Buena Tierra works to spread the Word of God and strengthen the ministry of the local church in Latin America. Our strap-line is "Sowing Life for all of life". We believe in the importance of teaching the Bible in clear, relevant and dynamic ways, so that children will come to know Jesus in a personal way.
We do this through writing and publishing didactic bible teaching materials for children and teenagers. We also provide a range of quality training for those involved in ministry with kids. Our Level 1 and 2 Christian Education courses are a strong foundation for those wanting to be more effective in their kids ministry.
I am passionate about teaching teachers! It is a strategic use of my time and skills, and I pray it will bear fruit for the Kingdom. However, currently I am the main team player and that isn't always easy. Balancing the business administration, with the publishing and training is a huge task. It often feels overwhelming.
I have support from my amazing team, Moisés, Sara, Regina and Maricarmen. They form our team of trainers, delivering Holiday Bible Club sessions, prevention of child sexual abuse training and the Christian Education courses. A key part of my role is to develop this group in their understanding and practice. I hope that is something I can work on more before I leave. My desire is that this team will enable us to train in more places and reach more communities and churches.
One of our key resources is 'Preventing Child Sex Abuse with Aurora'. Aurora is a friendly parrot who chats alongside the teacher to help kids understand potential risk situations and develop tools to help keep them safe. This manual contains 17 lessons with a bible basis. We also give 6 hour training sessions on the topic, with practical applications.
Buena Tierra is part of the CENIP project, which stands for Centre for Investigations and Publications. Along with Ediciones Puma, we are two arms of their work in Spanish speaking countries.
